Stars Sparkle At 2012 Met Gala

The stars were out in full force last night for the 2012 Met Gala in New York, and MOST brought their “A” games in regards to the red carpet.

By far the biggest buzz was about Beyonce‘s form fitting, feathery piece from Givenchy Haute Couture. Whether you love it or hate, Bey definitely left her mark on that carpet.

Besides King B, my personal three favorite looks last night came from La La Anthony, Janelle Monae, and Beyonce’s lil’ sis Solange Knowles. La La showed off her bangin’ body in a gorgeous, blue Zac Posen gown, Janelle wowed in a black, satin pantsuit, and Solo kept things bright in a canary yellow piece by Rachel Roy.

Other celebs in attendance included Kanye West, Carmelo Anthony, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Rick Ross, Azealia Banks, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, and M.I.A.

Rihanna continues shining as the face of Armani lingerie in this new string of sexy ads. The latest black and white show stoppers from RiRi were shot for the 2012 Emporio Armani Underwear campaign.

Kanye, Jay-Z & Nicki Minaj Perform At The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

I’ll have to admit, this was the first year that I actually watched the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in its entirety, and that definitely had to do with the performances. If you missed it, Kanye opened the show in some extra-skinny leather pants, and performed his hit “Stronger” in honor of his late mother Donda West. Later in the show ‘Ye returned to the stage with partner-in-crime Jay-Z to perform “N*ggas In Paris.” It was definitely not what I expected to hear at a fashion show (especially a fashion show on CBS), but I still thought it was dope! (I know you caught Bey jammin’ in the audience too.) They looked like they had a blast performing, and Jay had me giggling when they wrapped it up by walking the runway.

Closing out the show was the one-and-only Nicki Minaj, and hate if you want, but they couldn’t have picked a better act. The models were all styled in crazy colored ensembles based on Victoria’s Secret “Pink” line, and they fit in perfect with Nicki’s signature Harajuku swag.

All-in-all I actually really enjoyed the show. Not only were the performances great, but I loved all of the different themes and how the lingerie was styled. I’ll definitely be tuning in again next year!

AMA Red Carpet Recap

In case you missed it, last night ABC aired the 2011 American Music Awards. For whatever reason the AMAs have never been one of the award shows that I’m pressed to watch, and this year was no exception. I’d be lying to you if I said me and my A.D.D. sat through the entire show, but I did catch bits and pieces. (There’s only so much of Taylor Swift’s “OMG I won again?” blow up doll face that I can take.) But if you’re interested in checking out any of the ~~lackluster efforts~~ performances, you can find them all here.

However, the one thing that did catch my eye throughout the evening was the fashion. From Nicki Minaj’s fierce Alexander McQueen heels (they were hot as hell even though she couldn’t walk in them) to Bieber’s classed-up Leo DiCaprio look; the stars’ stylists were definitely working overtime.

Kanye Debuts “Dw” Collection At Paris Fashion Week

Already considered one of the most fashion-forward hip hop artists in the game, Kanye took that to the next level as he debuted the Spring collection for his first ever line “Dw” (named for his late mother, Donda West) during Fashion Week in Paris. The models were clad in leather, fur and shoes to die for, as they walked the runway to tracks from Waka Flocka Flame and Common. ‘Ye kept the show rather small, but with big names occupying the few rows of seats available. Those spotted at the show included Vogue‘s Anna Wintour, the Olsen twins, Lindsay Lohan, Ciara and designers like Alexander Wang and Silvia Fendi.

Fashion critics are already ripping the line apart, saying it “lacked focus and vision,” but I actually liked a lot of the pieces. That uber-lowcut black dress is EVERYTHING! (Not that I have the body to rock it, nor the bank account to afford it; but hey, a girl can dream.)

Nicki Gets “Wild” For Oscar de la Renta

In today’s dose of Fashion Week f*ckery, Nicki Minaj goes all animal print on us, mixing leopard prints with a ridiculous tiger hat (quite possibly straight from your local Hot Topic). Like I’ve said before, I really do love Nicki, but sometimes I just can’t with these ~~costumes~~ outfits.

With that said though, I guess compared to her other recent looks, this is definitely a lot more low key. It’s almost an “Old Nicki 2.0″ if you will. (I know I’m not the only one shocked as hell to see that Barbie chain reemerge either.)

The self-proclaimed Head Barb once again hobnobbed with Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, seated front row at the Oscar de la Renta show.

Brace yourselves folks; with two days remaining of Fashion Week, I’m sure we have yet to see it all…

Beyonce & Solange Attend Fashion Week

A little baby bump was not going to stop Beyonce from checking out New York Fashion Week. The pregnant R&B diva and lil’ sister Solange caused a stir when they made a surprise appearance at the J.Crew presentation earlier today. King B rocked a belted, gold sequin dress with nude pumps, while Solange spiced it up with a more colorful look.

A fresh-faced Bey then made a quick change into a nude ensemble (that hid her prego belly quite well) before the duo popped over to the Vera Wang show. The Knowles sisters enjoyed the show from the front row, just a few seats from Kim Kardashian and BFF La La.

Nicki Continues To Make A Splash At Fashion Week

Nicki Minaj continued her freak parade of fashion through New York Fashion Week today. Decked out in typical Nicki craziness, the Young Money raptress has been seen rubbing elbows with some of the biggest names in the fashion industry. She was even spotted front row at the Carolina Herrera show with Vogue Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour. (Hmmmm, could a cover and/or spread be in the works for Nick?)

Later, she stopped by the Betsey Johnson Spring 2012 show (perhaps, the one show where her look doesn’t seem out of the box) and posed for pics with the designer herself.
