Nas & Lauryn Hill Rock Summer Jam + Lauryn Issues Statement Supporting Nicki’s Decision

If anything positive came out of all of yesterday’s Summer Jam drama, it would have to be this.

After Nicki Minaj backed out of her scheduled performance, Nas (who was originally billed as a guest of Nicki’s) took the stage and gave the crowd a set filled with hip hop classics. And as if the Queensbridge emcee wasn’t enough, he brought out the legendary Lauryn Hill for a bad ass duet.

Man, I swear “If I Ruled The World” is literally one of my FAVORITE songs, and if I would’ve been there I would’ve fell the f*ck out!

Ciara Is A “One Woman Army”

As soon as Ciara announced the title of her new project, Twitter was all abuzz about it. Both Stans and shade-throwers were in full force, putting their two cents in about One Woman Army. Now I won’t talk any sh*t about CiCi, because I’d love for her to come back with some hot tracks. I just hope she stays in her lane and sticks to what she does best. (Meaning cool it with the ballads girl, and get that ass back on the dance floor!)

Anyway, fueling her comeback even further, Ciara released a few promo pics, and there’s no denying she looks amazing. Fingers crossed that her music is just as fierce!

Check out Miss Harris dishing on her new project below.

Beyonce Pens Mother’s Day Letter For Miss Tina

It’s no secret that Beyonce shares an incredible bond with her mother Tina, and now that she’s a mother herself, that bond has grown even closer. Bey took to her website to share a hand written Mother’s Day letter for the woman who brought her into this world, and I’m sure more than a handful of Stans have already printed and framed that b*tch up.

Happy Mother’s Day!

President Obama Shouts Out Young Jeezy

In what’s sure to piss off a lot of Republicans, President Obama shouted out Young Jeezy at last night’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner. During his speech, the Prez kept it comical saying:

“In my first term I sang Al Green. In my second term, I’m going with Young Jeezy.”

Clearly “The Snowman” was geeked up about it (and who wouldn’t be?), tweeting a response to the Head Honcho.

Check the clip out below.

Remembering Left Eye 10 Years Later + TLC Is Set To Tour

I’ll be completely honest, I’m usually not the type to get emotional when a celebrity passes; but Lord, the death of TLC‘s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes was definitely the exception to that rule. Like many other girls my age, I grew up on TLC and Left Eye was hands down my favorite member of the group. From the ridiculous hats I wore to emulate her style, to learning every word to all of her raps, and even the eyebrow piercing I eventually rocked, she influenced the sh*t out of me. As crazy as it sounds, she really helped shaped who I was and who I am today, and I’ll never forget that.

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been ten years, but today marks the anniversary of her untimely passing in that tragic car crash in Hondruas. And although it’s a sad day for TLC fans, T-Boz and Chilli have released some news that may put a smile on your face. According to TMZ, the group is set to tour and may incorporate a hologram of Left Eye (similar to the Tupac likeness recently used at Coachella).

For the first time in nearly a decade, TLC will be reuniting for a U.S. concert tour later this year — and TMZ has learned, the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes will be making a special appearance.

The group’s rep tells us, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas are currently in the planning stages of a massive 2012 reunion tour in the U.S.

So far, we’re told 5 major cities have already been booked — and even more are in the works.

But the big surprise … we’re told the group plans to pull a Tupac — incorporating their deceased former member Left Eye in the shows, projecting her image on a big screen and working her vocals into the live performances.

Now as much as I’ve said I hope we don’t start seeing hologram tours, I still think I’d be buying a ticket for this one. What do you guys think, would you be down to see this “reunion” tour?

Nicki Minaj Unveils “Roman Reloaded” Track Listing

With her sophomore album set to drop April 3, Nicki Minaj has given fans a lil’ taste of what they can expect from Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. The official track list has been released, and the LP will include features from the likes of Chris Brown, Rick Ross, Cam’ron, Beenie Man, Bobby Valentino, Nas, Young Jeezy, 2 Chainz, and of course Weezy and Drake too.

Now I’ve thrown a lot of shade since the release of “Stupid Hoe” and that horrendous Grammy performance, but that list of features has just renewed my excitement for this album release. I mean Nas and Beenie Man?!? Don’t let us down Nicki…

Peep the entire track list below.

Vintage “Old” Nicki

After her recent Grammy performance, Nicki Minaj has left many of her fans (myself included) wondering what the f*ck was she thinking? More than once I have referenced “Old Nicki,” and for those of you that don’t know what that means, here is a prime example.

Yes, there was a time when Nicki was on her grind doing DVDs and mixtapes, A time when her bars got more attention than her wigs, and a time when 8-year-olds weren’t emulating the femcee.

For the most part I’ve supported Nicki’s evolution; but sometimes I wish she’d look back to these times and throw us true hip hop fans a bone.

*Warning* If you’re only familiar with the “Super Bass” Nicki, what you see below might blow your mind. Hit the jump to check out Onika from Queens and her “Dirty Money” freestyle.

Did Chris Get Himself A Piece Of Rihanna’s Birthday Cake?

Word on the street is that Breezy made an appearance at Rihanna‘s 24th birthday party, and unsuccessfully attempted to keep it hush hush.

Via TMZ:

Chris Brown was so paranoid about keeping his attendance at Rihanna’s birthday party a big fat secret — he actually tried to FORCE partygoers to sign confidentiality agreements … TMZ has learned.

Sources tell us, Chris refused to enter the private party Monday night at the famous Hearst Mansion in Beverly Hills until everyone signed an NDA — sending his henchmen in beforehand to gather every partygoer’s signature.

We’re told although they didn’t get EVERYONE to sign — Chris eventually walked in … and spent a huge chunk of the night nuzzling up against Rihanna.

According to sources, the two got real intimate — sitting next to each other, talking, and holding hands … all perfectly legal ever since the restraining order was lifted.

And now here’s the icing on the cake (pun intended): Rumors are swirling hard that Chris has hopped on the remix to Rih’s new track “Birthday Cake.” It’s set to drop sometime this week, and I can only imagine what the response will be if the two really did get together for a collabo. *Grabs popcorn*

Sidenote: Speaking of cake, is that an edible RiRi riding a joint?

Baby Blue Makes Billboard History

She’s not even a week old yet, and lil’ Blue Ivy Carter has already done what most artists only dream of doing their entire lives. The golden child of Jay-Z and Beyonce has made history by being credited as the youngest person to ever  to appear on the Billboard charts:

Blue Ivy Carter, the bundle of joy brought into the world by megastar Beyonce (with a little help from fellow famous dad Jay-Z) Saturday (Jan. 7), becomes the youngest person ever credited with gracing a Billboard chart, as Jay-Z’s newly-recorded studio cut “Glory” — officially billed as “featuring B.I.C.,” an abbreviation of Blue Ivy Carter — begins on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at No. 74. (For historical purposes, this week’s Billboard charts are dated Jan. 21).

Taking a page out of Stevie Wonder’s proverbial book on how to be a sentimental musical dad, Jay-Z recorded his precious girl’s first seconds of life — her breathing, cries and coos — just as Wonder did on his iconic song “Isn’t She Lovely,” written for his then-newborn daughter Aisha. [SOURCE]

I guess the only appropriate thing to say about this would be, “THAT SH*T CRAY!”

Day26 Debuts New Web Series

Making the Band may no longer be on the air, but Day26 fans are in for a treat. The fellas are back on the scene with a new single, and have just debuted their web series “A New Day.” In the brief first episode, the guys talk about Que’s exit from the crew, clown Brian and his “anger management issues,” and of course let us know what we can expect in the near future from the group.

I know I miss watching all of their MTB antics, so I can definitely see myself tuning in for more of these webisodes. Hit the jump to check it out.
