I’m sorry but I just couldn’t help myself…this week’s throwback comes from none other than Drizzy Drake.

I remember the first time I was introduced to Drake the emcee (at the time I only knew him as Aubrey the actor). His “Replacement Girl” video (featuring Trey Songz) actually debuted after an episode of Degrassi, and I had no idea that “Wheelchair Jimmy” could flow.

With that said, let’s throw it back to those days. Check out innocent, child-actor Aubrey when he was just trying to be fly in a peacoat and not getting buck in the club over some coochie.

Thanks to my Twitter timeline, earlier today I was reminded of the greatness that is Trina‘s Diamond Princess album. Call me ratchet if you’d like, but I promise you that CD was the soundtrack for some of my best high school days.

This week’s throwback goes back to 2002, when the unlikely duo of Trina and Tweet teamed up for the classic (well at least in my mind) “No Panties.”

As I was getting ready for work the other morning, I caught the tail end of Nas and Lauryn Hill‘s “If I Ruled the World,” and I was definitely reminded how much I used to (and still) love that damn song. Real hip hop at it’s finest kids, enjoy!

In honor of the 27th 29th birthday of Miss Onika Maraj, I figured it was only right to post some “Old Nicki” for this week’s throwback. For those Barbz that don’t know, their leader wasn’t always all about neon wigs, a big ass, and crazy costumes. Nicki made a name for herself by grinding on the mixtape circuit and appearing on DVDs like “The Come Up.”

Way before the world thought of Jay-Z and Beyonce as “Bonnie & Clyde,” Jigga and Foxy were THAT duo. “I’ll Be” was, and still is, one of my absolute favorite tracks. The fact that it dropped in 1997 though, does make me feel old as hell.

Released in 1997 and featured on the Nothing to Lose soundtrack, “Not Tonight (Remix)” was my sh*t! To this day I will spit you every single line to this track like I just listened to it an hour ago. Lil’ Kim managed to grab the hottest female MCs at the time to create a real club anthem for the ladies (not that I knew a damn thing about clubs in 1997).

How dope would a track like this be today? Nicki, can you rally the troops and make this happen please?

Back in 2005, an innocent, fresh-faced, girl from Barbados hit the scene with “Pon de Replay.” Who’d have thought that girl would grow up to be the bad ass, IDGAF, in-your-face Rihanna that we all know and love today. From wining in some boy cut jeans to frolicking topless in a field in Ireland; RiRi has definitely had quite the evolution.

“Hey wait a minute, ain’t that Brandy’s brother?”

I know, I know, this is not a super-old throwback; but I’d say 8 years still puts it into that category. Lately the words of this song have been STUCK in my head, and I’d be lying if I said I couldn’t relate to it.
