New Ish: Waka Flocka Flame ft. Nicki Minaj, Tyga & Flo Rida – “Get Low”

When I first saw the list of artists featured on this track, I wasn’t exactly sure how I was gonna feel about it. Much to my surprise though, I actually kind of like it.

Waka Flocka has enlisted  Nicki Minaj, Tyga and the one-man Black Eyed Peas Flo Rida for his latest cut “Get Low,” and he’s definitely reaching for the pop-spins with this one. (Usually anything with Flo Rida is a no-go for me, but I guess I can give this one a pass.)

If you’re feelin’ “Get Low,” you can find it on Waka’s upcoming album Triple F Life, set to drop June 12.

Nicki Minaj Talks Summer Jam With The Breakfast Club

First off, as a morning radio host myself, let me just to tell you how damn much I love “The Breakfast Club!” That’s the type of radio I dream about doing one day, so I have tons of respect for Angela Yee, Charlamagne, and DJ Envy.

So anyway, after this weekend’s Summer Jam fiasco and Nicki Minaj‘s subsequent interview with Funkmaster Flex, Nicki called into Power 105.1′s morning show to further discuss the issue. (And we all know it’s no coincidence that their show is in direct competition with Peter Rosenberg over on Hot 97.)

During the interview Miss Minaj once again stood by her decision to pull out of the show, thanked all of her fellow artists for their support, and guaranteed her fans that a free concert is still in the works. (Of course there was Lil’ Kim shade too, but is anyone surprised by that?)

The only thing that did surprise me about the interview was when Nicki said she had no intentions of performing “Starships” during her set anyway.  It definitely made Rosenberg look a little worse, BUT how many of us actually believe that? I love ya Nick, but not performing your biggest single at the moment just seems silly as hell.

She’s teamed up with 2 Chainz for the first single from her upcoming One Woman Army LP, and it does not disappoint. “Sweat” will no doubt be a club banger, with a dance-heavy video to accompany the track.

Nicki Minaj Breaks Down Summer Jam Issue With Funkmaster Flex

After threatening to “end her career” last night, I was actually kind of shocked that Nicki would even give Funkmaster Flex the time of day, but the First Lady of Young Money called into Hot 97 earlier tonight to address the elephant in the room known as Summer Jam…and let me tell you, she WENT IN!

It’s no secret that I’ve been a Nicki Minaj fan from the jump, but like Peter Rosenberg, I’m not a huge fan of the pop direction she’s been going in lately. But with that said, after listening to this interview none of that even matters to me. Nicki held her own through Flex’s gassed up rants, made clear and valid points, genuinely apologized to her fans, and I respect the hell out of her for all of that.

The three-part interview is a bit lengthy, but it’s worth the listen. It’s definitely clear that Nicki DOES NOT PLAY.

If anything positive came out of all of yesterday’s Summer Jam drama, it would have to be this.

After Nicki Minaj backed out of her scheduled performance, Nas (who was originally billed as a guest of Nicki’s) took the stage and gave the crowd a set filled with hip hop classics. And as if the Queensbridge emcee wasn’t enough, he brought out the legendary Lauryn Hill for a bad ass duet.

Man, I swear “If I Ruled The World” is literally one of my FAVORITE songs, and if I would’ve been there I would’ve fell the f*ck out!

Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s Watch the Throne tour rolled into Paris last night, and the packed crowd included some of the biggest names in showbiz. Most notably, Jigga’s superstar wife Beyonce was spotted showing her support with best friends Kelly Rowland and Gwyneth Paltrow in tow. (No Michelle in sight, but yes, that’s The-Dream kickin’ it next to Kelly.)

Ciara Is A “One Woman Army”

As soon as Ciara announced the title of her new project, Twitter was all abuzz about it. Both Stans and shade-throwers were in full force, putting their two cents in about One Woman Army. Now I won’t talk any sh*t about CiCi, because I’d love for her to come back with some hot tracks. I just hope she stays in her lane and sticks to what she does best. (Meaning cool it with the ballads girl, and get that ass back on the dance floor!)
