Nas, Wiz Khalifa & The Game Pay Homage To Snoop @ The BMI Awards

Drake may have taken home Songwriter of the Year, but the big honoree at Friday night’s BMI Urban Awards was Snoop D-O-Double-G. The West Coast legend was honored with the Icon Award, and some big names were on hand to pay tribute to “Tha Doggfather.”

Wiz Khalifa, The Game and even Nas covered Snoop classics and had the crowd going crazy. Wiz took on “Nuthin’ But A G Thang” (he really has that signature Snoop-sway down pat too), The Game gave his rendition of “Murder Was The Case” and Nas popped up out the blue joined Daz Dillinger and Kurupt for “The Next Episode.”

In case you’re curious, yes Dr. Dre was on hand as well; he actually presented Snoop with the coveted award.

Peep all of the performances below.

Drake Cleans Up @ BMI Urban Awards

Drizzy Drake was honored at last night’s BMI Urban Awards in Holllywood. The Young Money MC picked up a grip of awards including the coveted  Songwriter of the Year trophy.

During his acceptance speech he gave the obligatory thanks to his mother, plus shouted out Kanye West, Andre 3000 and Snoop. He thanked his uncle for the encouragement he had given him, and even called out former Universal Motown President, Sylvia Rhone, with a quick, in-your-face jab:

To my uncle who sat me down after Sylvia Rhone told me that I didn’t have what it took to make it in the music industry…To my uncle who sat me down and told me that I should keep on going because I have something special.

Damn, that’s gotta feel good as hell right?

Check out Drake’s full acceptance speech after the jump.

Cassie Covers Idoll

Cassie serves up some extra-Photoshopped fierceness for the Fall/Winter 2011 issue of Idoll. The industry-exclusive magazine is trying to keep people talking gets a little cheeky, dubbing it the “Illuminati Issue.”

Now as much as “Me & U” was a club-banger, *insert sarcasm here* modeling is really where Cassie belongs. You can’t deny the b*tch is GORGEOUS!

Don’t Expect Any Nude Pics To Leak From Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland recently sat down with the.LIFE Files for a quick, candid interview. The sultry songstress opened up about everything from her “Motivation” collabo with Lil Wayne, meeting Michael Jackson and those inevitable Beyonce questions.

Miss Rowland also dished a little on her dating style, and why she would never send out any “peekaboo” pictures:

“Ummm you know what, we just have to be careful now with technology. Some people take peekaboo pictures, me I’m petrified…I won’t do it. I’m not married yet, there is no ring on this finger yet. I can’t do that.”

Check out what else Kelly had to  say after the break.

New Ish: Tyga & Travis Porter – “Ayy Ladies”

Tyga and Travis Porter are set to team up for a collaborative mixtape, appropriately titled King of Diamonds. The first track to hit the web from their upcoming effort is called “Ayy Ladies.”

What can I say? I know this is that ignorant-ass, booty-shaking music that’s straight up degrading woman…but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like this song anyway. (And you’re damn straight I’ll be guilty of downloading the whole mixtape when it drops too. Feel free to judge me if you’d like.)

If you wanna give this bouncy lil’ track a chance though, give it a listen below.

New Video: Rihanna – “Cheers (Drink To That)”

If it seems like Rihanna has made a video for every damn song off of her Loud album, you aren’t too far from the truth. “Cheers (Drink To That)” is the sixth single released from the LP, and RiRi has dropped a fun-filled visual to accompany the track.

The video features behind-the-scenes and performance footage from her Loud Tour, as well as clips from her recent trip back to her native Barbados. Also, make sure to peep the cameo from fellow pop-singer Avril Lavigne; (if you don’t know, Avril’s track “I’m With You” is sampled on the song).

Even if you aren’t the biggest fan of her music, you have to admit that she looks like she’d be a damn good time to party with.

Eve Spices It Up In New Promo Pics

eve-05

E-V-E where the hell have you been? No seriously, it literally has been a year short of a decade since the “pitbull in a skirt” has released an album.

Hopefully these sexy, new promo pics are sign that the female MC is going to grace us with some new music in the near future. I’ve always had love for Eve, and if she can deliver more “Love is Blind” type sh*t, I can’t wait! That type of music (you know with REAL substance) is what the industry is missing today.

Please, don’t let us down!

Shots Fired: Weezy Takes A Jab @ Hov On “It’s Good”

With Tha Carter IV set to drop this Monday, August 29, leaks were all but inevitable. The latest track from the upcoming LP to hit the web features Drake and Jadakiss, and ready for this…Weezy takes quite the lyrical swing at his fellow Mr. Carter.

On “It’s Good”, Dwayne raps:

Talkin’ ’bout baby money, I got your baby money. Kidnap your b*tch, get that how much you love your lady money.

Those bars come in response to the dig Jay-Z supposedly aimed at Baby on Watch The Throne’s “H*A*M”:

Really, you got baby money? Keep it real with n*ggas, n*ggas ain’t got my lady money.

My first thought about this whole situation was “NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!” Weezy and Hov are by far two of my favorite artists, so I’m not a fan of this beef. BUT on the other hand, hip hop hasn’t had a really good, legit battle in a minute, so this COULD be entertaining.

And when it comes down to it, for all we know, Jay-Z and Wayne could have formulated this whole thing to keep us talking. It’s not like they haven’t collaborated before (hell Wayne and Beyonce have even done a track together), so anything’s possible.

Wayne told VIBE Magazine that he’s not worried about the diss at all. When asked if he had any second thoughts about the track, his response was:

“I know there won’t be any repercussions behind what I did. I know for a fact music is about perception. You can’t do anything but perceive what you hear. I know that for a fact. So I can’t ever be upset about someone’s reaction.”

And honestly, that just may be crazy enough to believe. We live in the digital age of instant response, and we still have yet to hear anything from Jigga’s camp. This “beef” could simply fizzle out before it ever gets heated; but you never know, Sean Carter may drop a “Takeover” when we least expect it.

If you haven’t heard “It’s Good,” take a listen after the break.
